I couldn't be more excited to share with you the news that from a grant drawing last school year, our classroom was selected to receive a $5,000.00 Next Generation room make-over grant. My 2016-2017 students will be the first group of students to be able to benefit from this generous grant opportunity. After much research and observations in other district's Next Generation classrooms, I have decided to use the grant money to purchase a classroom set of I-pads. So, we are very fortunate to be able to have the opportunity to have 1-to-1 use of I-pads in our classroom now! You might be wondering, how will 1-to-1 I-pad use benefit your child? With this wonderful opportunity I will now be able to re-shape my teaching methods to facilitate rigorous, relevant, and authentic content through the use of differentiated instruction and flexible grouping that will be technology based. Utilizing this technology component will help engage, support, enhance and personalize the teaching and learning process for all students. The 1-to-1 I-pads will help to improve each student's quality of thinking, and will help to engage students in meaningful and authentic learning. The technology will help students to take ownership of their learning and will also help students to apply their knowledge to real-world experiences. I'm super excited for this wonderful opportunity and I know the students will love the I-pads too and the learning that will be taking place on them.

This is my first attempt at doing a classroom blog. I will try to post as often as possible: important news, notes, dates and share pictures with you on it too throughout the school year. hope that you will find that it is a helpful, informational tool as to what we are learning in the classroom. You may also comment back on the posts and pictures! But, please be sure that all questions are emailed to me so that I can respond in a timely manner. As we progress in the school year and enhance our reading and writing skills, students are strongly encouraged to use the blog to post comments about classroom activities and learning as well! I can't wait to hear from you about our classroom learning experiences!
Hi boys and girls! I know you are very excited about your first day in Kindergarten and so am I! I can't wait to meet all of you! You will make new friends and learn all sorts of new things. It won't take long and you will feel right at home. This is going to be exciting and fun for you and me too!
We'll all get to know one another and start a busy year of learning new songs, new games, letters, numbers, meeting new friends and so much more. We'll learn to read and write by listening to, telling, acting out, and writing. You will be an excellent independent reader and writer by the end of the school year! We'll learn numbers using snap cubes, beads, pattern blocks, and lots of other materials. We have a math program that I know you'll love and a Smartboard in our classroom too! We also have a new reading and science program this year that I'm excited to explore and learn with you. I know you will enjoy our show and tell time. If you would like to, please bring your favorite stuffed animal in to share with us on your first day of school. Your animal is invited to stay and spend a delightful day with us. I can't wait to show you my special friend and meet your special friend too! I would like to give you the opportunity to visit your classroom. There will be a Move-In-Night on Monday, August 29th from 4:30-6:30p.m. I hope that you and your family can come. If you would please bring in your supplies during this time, that would be great. We will be sharing our supplies, so there is no need to put your name on them (unless specified). This is a great opportunity to meet me, see your new classroom, tour the school and meet some new friends. I will also have a special scavenger hunt for you and your family to complete. Our classroom is room #30 and is located near the music room. I'm looking forward to meeting you! See you soon! Ms.Parling |
